Background of Power Storage and Micro-Grid
With the support of National policy, wind power has developed fast in China with huge installed capacity. But the disadvantages of wind power, such as intermittence, randomness, anti-peaking characteristics (more at night less in daytime, opposite to electricity usage load), have resulted in power grid shock and low utilization. In principle, wind power shall take up no more than 5% of Power Grid. Otherwise, it will affect the Power Grid quality. Due to Power Grid restriction and peaking cycle factors, wind power is not developing well. PV battery industry also had a hard time this year. The PV battery production capacity is surplus and the installation costs goes down significantly. National Energy Bureau issued “the 12thFive-Year Plan of Solar Power Generation” and the State Grid Company issued “Work Advice (Temporary) for Distributed Power Generation Grid Connection Services” to push forward the domestic demand of PV products. With national subsidies and policy support, the domestic PV distributed power generation engineering market is booming. However, similar with wind power, PV power generation development is also restricted by the disadvantage of instability.

Aim: Use as much as possible the power generated by PV but less power purchased from the Power Grid.
System Composition: Energy Storage Module, Storage Inverter and Protection Control.
1. When the power generation of Grid-connected PV System is greater than load power, the network detection device will send a signal to the Storage Inverter. The Storage Inverter will charge the power difference between the PV system and the load. When the storage SOC reaches the designed value, the Storage Inverter will stop charging. The surplus electricity will be sold to large power grid.
2. When the power generation of Grid-connected PV System is less than load power, the network detection device will send a signal to the Storage Inverter. The Storage Inverter will discharge the power difference between the PV system and the load. When the storage SOC reaches to the designed value, the Storage Inverter will stop discharging. The lack electricity for family grid will be provided by the large power grid.
